New bill provides computer science education a bump in Kansas classrooms

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A new monthly bill will give a bump for pc science education and learning in Kansas lecture rooms with Governor Kelly’s newly inked signature.

On Wednesday, May 10, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says she signed bipartisan Home Bill 2466 which promotes computer system science training in colleges and gives supplemental money for present-day and long run lecturers to teach in laptop science packages.

HB 2466 involves the generation of a pilot plan to go over the costs of credential examinations and to aid occupation and complex college students changeover to the workforce.

“By increasing computer science training and generating this transition method, we can much better keep the skilled workforce Kansas creates through our K-12 schools,” Gov. Kelly reported. “In addition, it indicators to organizations on the lookout to make or extend their company that Kansas is the location to do it.”

The invoice also gives scholarships for educators in rural places and underrepresented socioeconomic teams to prepare in computer science education and learning.

“HB2466 will deliver a great deal-desired resources and schooling to our lecturers,” Representative Steve Huebert (R-Valley Middle) stated. “With that, more classes will be offered, making it possible for students to acquire the computer science competencies they want for today’s workforce demands.”

With Kelly’s signature, the monthly bill will head to the Secretary of State’s Business office for printing in the Session Regulations, which is generally revealed on July 1 and will formally codify the legislation as a law.
