3M Open Final Round Preview
It’s a down week for the PGA Tour, which finds itself in a brief break between the Open Championship and the FedEx Cup Playoffs. While many of the Tour’s top players take the week off, many of its week-in, week-out grinders find themselves in key position to lock up status, move closer to the FedEx Cup Playoff standings, or, at the very least, pad their bank accounts.
Scott Piercy leads by four strokes at the 54-hole mark. The PGA Tour veteran has been remarkably consistent this week, with each of his scores from the week landing between 64 and 66. Piercy is looking for his first win in nearly 15 years on Sunday in Minnesota.
Further back, Tony Finau is in the mix, needing another low score on Sunday to surge into contention. Finau is looking for his third PGA Tour victory — and second in the last 12 months — at the 3M. In addition to Piercy, he’ll have to outlast Emiliano Grillo and Doug Ghim on Sunday.
